We all start, with that thought of I know I need to start eating better or exercising more, and then we say I’m going to start next week eating better and exercising. We may do it for a while, sometimes we get good results and other times we don’t. Do you want to make long-lasting health changes? If you do what I am about to tell you is critical to your success.
Look deeply at what outcome/goal you want and why you want it. Yes, you want to be healthier but why do you want to be healthier and how? Do you want to lose 5 lbs of muscle, fat or water weight? Are you looking to come off medication or just reduce it? Are you exercising to lose weight to just fit in your jeans, or improve your cardiovascular function? Are you exercising to burn off stored glucose and fat regulate energy metabolism? Dig deep to find out what you really want and why you want it? You must get very clear on what you want your health to do for you.
If you only focus on what you have to stop doing and what you can’t eat chances are you are not going to create lasting changes. When was the last time you were really excited and motivated, I mean dead serious about something you really wanted and you didn’t follow through with it? True health is more than just eating and exercising, make sure you look at the other lifestyle components to truly give your body what it needs for long-term success.
